Blood Mortar began as research into ancient Roman casein mortars, exploring protein-based binders as sculptural materials. By adding blood to lime, I developed a natural glue that produces a peculiar sage-green colour. This ongoing material investigation explores how bodily substances can bind, transform, and give form to matter.
